Miss Edokpolo is a member of the Corporate Commercial/Company Secretarial department of the firm. She has for about five, had primary responsibility for the firm’s Company Secretarial services and also is actively engaged in the provision of legal advisory services to the firm’s Company Secretarial clients. This exposure to clients, who are engaged in diverse businesses ranging from FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods), Information Technology, Electronics, Heavy duty equipment, Tobacco, Cement and Allied Manufacturing, Business Risk security, Oil & Gas Servicing to marketing communications and educational services, has enabled her to develop a wide knowledge of Nigerian law especially in relation to statutory and regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions and other company law related matters.
Miss Edokpolo was part of the team that conducted legal due diligence and provided legal advisory services to Henkel A.G & Co KGA regarding the proposed acquisition of a Nigerian entity engaged in the laundry and homecare products. She was also a member of the team that provided legal advisory services to a Nigerian entity, Chicason Group of Companies Limited, for the acquisition of 70% shares in a Nigerian entity that had been granted a license by the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel for mining of limestone for production of cement.
In April 2015, Miss Edokpolo was admitted as an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria after her successful completion of the qualifying examinations with the Institute.
Miss Edokpolo is also a member of the Intellectual Property (“IP”) department of the firm and has primary responsibility for the firm’s IP enforcement and protection services, which includes provision of legal advice to foreign and local clients on IP related matters. The services include; trademark oppositions, contesting trademark refusals, preparation of IP related agreements, handling trademarks, patents and designs registrations and renewals, change in registered particulars and filing of assignments of trademarks, patents and designs; trademark refusals, trademark oppositions etc. at the Nigerian Registry of Trademarks, Patent and Designs. She also has extensive experience in copyright related matters.
Between 2014 and 2017, she was appointed by the International Trademark Association (INTA) as a member of the Public Information Committee and was subsequently appointed as a member of the INTA Bulletins Committee in January, 2018 for a two (2) year tenure. She has also represented the firm on several international conferences and meetings organized by the International Trademarks Association.
She recently concluded the professional course, CopyrightX organized by Harvard Law School in conjunction with the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, in June 2017. In addition to expanding her knowledge on Nigeria’s Copyright Act during the course, she also gained a lot of knowledge on the USA copyright statute from the CopyrightX course.
